Intensive Probation Services

The IPS Program is a court-supervised, treatment and supervision concept available for felony and misdemeanor cases. This program requires a total commitment from every participant.

Each participant must sign a contract to be enrolled into the program. The participant could be terminated from the program at any time for violation of any part of the contract or the rules as set forth in the handbook.

As a condition of probation, the courts often require probationers to participate in certain programs for rehabilitative purposes. For example, probationers of drug possession offenses will often be required to enroll in drug counseling or treatment. In addition, probation sometimes voluntarily refers probationers to program not specifically required by the court. A list of available groups and classes can be found by clicking HERE. Probationers are also referred to educational and vocational training programs as well as employment assistance programs.

ELIGIBILITY

IPS cases are referred for services by the Judges of the 24th JDC, 2nd Parish Court and State Probation and Parole. Cases are assessed for treatment services by using a substance abuse assessment as well as a trauma assessment.  Participants must agree to all conditions of probation prior to their enrollment in the program.
